Polly the Greek

This is Polly. I don’t know much about her, other than that she is a Greek rescue dog, which I assume means that she comes from Greece, and was rescued, and not that she goes about rescuing Greeks – which, depending on her grasp of economics, could be quite useful. Anyhow having now used up all my small talk on the subject of contemporary Greece, I must either fall back on Homer for more material, or Gerald Durrell, or just show you some pictures.

Hmmm.

Pictures it is then:IMG_7075(Out, damn spot, eh?)

Eyes go in early on – if they’re not right, there’s not much point going on.

Several thread changes later – 8 or 9, I think – she’s all but done. And for no other reason than superstition, I leave the highlight in the eye till last. It’s the best bit, that Pygmalion moment when the portrait comes to life.

There you go, it is all Greek after all.IMG_6986IMG_7013And here is Polly. IMG_7006

  1. A lovely story following the wanderings of a once disconsolate dog now the apple of her owners’ eyes. Beautiful work and wonderful to read how it’s created
